Become a Reaper or Mortician, Attend Funerals, and More

The Sims 4 Life and Death Expansion Pack was revealed on Thursday, unveiling a lot of new features. We have a new world called Ravenwood, which shows hints of influences from Romania. The expansion pack will introduce a bucket list style of gameplay that can continue in the afterlife. Speaking of the afterlife, we will have more interactions with it. If your Sim completes their bucket list, an option for reincarnation will be available.

We can choose between two new careers: becoming a reaper or a mortician. Let's not forget about the funerals and cemeteries. Guess what? It has been confirmed that there will be a lot of types available. We can expect a lot of fun CAS and build/buy items, ranging from caskets to tombstones. The EA website states that ghosts will be able to woohoo in random objects, and a new death has been revealed in the trailer - it looks like death by crow.

This is my initial response to the trailer unveiling. The main highlights of the trailer included the portal leading to a secret realm where you can encounter the reaper. EA's website verifies that you have the opportunity to become a Grimtern and perform reaper duties.

The trailer also presents gameplay featuring a sim inheriting a will, participating in a funeral, delivering speeches, and visiting graves. I am eagerly anticipating delving into the gameplay involving sims interacting with spirits and transforming into ghosts.

Let's remember to consider the cover art. Could that be Olive Specter and Nervous Subject depicted? For those unfamiliar with the backstory, Nervous is Olive Specter's son, and there are hints that the Grim Reaper might be his father. This storyline originates in The Sims 2 and carries on into The Sims 3.

This assumption is based on Olive Specter's woohoo memory. Additionally, there is speculation that the figure in the center of the cover art might be Ophelia Nigmos, as they appear to be of a similar age, and she is Nervous' cousin. I can't wait to find out who they are!

My speculation is that we should expect a big base game update similar to my wedding stories, high school years, and growing together. I'm hoping that the base game will include funerals and a cemetery lot. I believe the Expansion Pack will provide us with a more in-depth funeral feature as well as additional features for cemeteries. Again, this is just my speculation, but I think it will be nice to get a taste of these features.

Please share your thoughts on the features. Are you looking forward to the expansion pack?

On Thursday, October 17th, I will host a watch party for the release of the Sims 4 Life and Death Gameplay Trailer on YouTube.

The bucket list and reincarnation mechanics sound like a fresh way to keep legacy gameplay going, and Ravenwood’s Romanian vibe is a nice shift from the usual suburban lots. I’ve been tinkering with similar ideas in my own saves, so this is right up my alley—check out https://veo3-ai.pro

The Ravenwood world sounds like exactly the gothic twist the game needed, and I love that bucket list goals carry over into the afterlife. My Sims are definitely going to be haunting their exes before reincarnating—check out my latest build for them https://seedance-2.dev
