Happy Hour with Jarnard: North Park

North Park has definitely changed over the years. When I was first introduced to North Park in 2006, there were only a few places to go for a beer. Back then, I would hit up Bluefoot, The Office (formerly Scolari's) and Bar Pink (formerly Pink Elephant). But now, there are plenty of places to eat and drink for cheap in North Park.

For our new segment, Happy Hour with Jarnard, here are my seven favorite places for happy hour in North Park.

Happy Hour: 4 to 6 p.m. Daily.

Late Night Happy hour: 11 p.m. to close. Sunday through Wednesday.

Highlights from the menu: $4 wells, drafts and house wines, $6 special drinks, hot wings, mini mac n' cheese and white bean hummus, and $20 Mule and Donkey pitchers

I come here quite often. I like the vibe here as well as their cocktails, appetizers and of course, the specials. West Coast Tavern is known for its mac n cheese and wings. They're to die for, seriously.

Happy Hour: 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday through Sunday.

Highlights from the menu: $2 off drafts and wines, $4 All Mary's Natural Chicken, fried house pickles, toasted brussels and drink specials

Ritual Kitchen looks like a house from the outside. I like coming here for their chicken wings. I enjoy sitting on their wrap around porch. I hear good things about their burgers and other appetizers on the menu.

Happy Hour: Open to 7:30 p.m. daily.

Highlights from the menu: $1 off everything (Monday through Friday) and $1 off liquor (weekend)

Bluefoot was the first bar I went to in North Park. They have one of the best atmospheres, stiff cocktails and craft beer on tap. They don't serve food here but they welcome bites from other places. Tuesday Pint Night is my favorite day to go when local craft beer is for $5.

Happy Hour: 4 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Highlights from the menu: $3 draft beer of the day, $4 well drinks, $6 cocktail of the day, corn dog bites and nachos, and $8 Coin-Op burger and veggie burger.

If you enjoy playing arcade games then this is the spot for you. At times this place can get packed, which is a good thing for meeting people. They have a great list of cocktails and eats on the menu.

Live Wire

Happy Hour: 5 to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Highlights from the menu: $4 drafts and cocktails

Live Wire is a small dive bar with pool tables and a jukebox with great music. I come here from time to time for a cold beer, shoot pool and sip on a stiff cocktail.

True North Tavern

Happy Hour: Noon to 7 p.m.

Highlights from the menu: $1 off beer, liquor and wine

True North is a spacious casual sports bar with an epic happy hour from noon to 7 p.m. This is a cool establishment to catch a weekday sports game while exploring their food and drink menu.

Poor House Brewing Company

Happy Hour: 2 to 7 p.m. Monday through Friday. All Day on Sunday.

Highlights from the menu: $1 off select brews

When I first walked into Poor House Brewing Company, my first reaction was "Whoa, they're playing my favorite punk-rock band, NOFX." I immediately fell in love with this brewing company because of that. They also have a great selection of beer on tap. My favorite would be the Hop Farmer IPA and Big Bang. If you happen to be there on Wednesday, you can enjoy a few games of pool for free.

I'm pretty sure I didn't include a few since I'm only picking seven. Let me know your favorite Happy Hour place in North Park.
