Sirena invites chefs to host a monthly dinner concept, Latin Nights

Music, wine and food all in one event sounds great exciting, right? Last month, Sirena Gourmet Latin Seafood, located in Little Italy, launched a new dinner and music series called Latin Nights. The dinner invites chefs to cook for an intimate group of food lovers. Every night is hosted by the executive chef Jaime Chavez every third Thursday of each month.

The first installment invited Felipe Raul. Diners experienced a six course meal showcasing floavors from Puerto Rico and the Caribbean. The courses included cassava mofongo over octopus salad, plantain cup filled with chicken fricassee in beer, cilantro crusted rockfish, puerco criollo with sofrito, passion fruit sponge cake and dark chocolate godiva coconut cream cheese flan. Every meal was delicious and was paired with a flavorful wine. My favorite was the puerco criollo with sofrito.

Check out the video I put together of the first Latin Nights at Sirena with chef Felipe Raul.

Be sure to check out the next Latin Nights on Sept. 24 with guest Chef Alex Emery. Chef Emery will introduce SoCal cuisine with a strong Latin culture influence to the diners.
